Impure skin is typical of women in the 15-30 age group, whose skin is more prone to hormonal changes and presents a large quantity of impurities, such as pimples and blackheads. Pimples, or comedonal acne, are caused by the dilation of the hair follicle and the accumulation of sebum and bacteria inside it. Pimples typically emerge during puberty but can also emerge later on, during pregnancy and adulthood, due to stress, anxiety or hormonal changes. Blackheads, on the other hand, are caused by an increased production of keratin within the hair follicles, generated both by endogenous hormonal factors and by external factors, such as UV exposure or the deposit of dust and occlusive substances on the skin. Impure skin can also be associated with oily skin, which may in turn depend on the overactivity of the sebaceous glands.
